I am a little teary eyed as I finished reading this today...I saved Jeremy's writing when it was sent out, but haven't read all of them yet. Today, it touches my heart that Romans 5:1 and "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" were during my active years in ministry to the kids. I remember the meeting when I met with all the teens who were working with me and we came up with familiar tunes to set the verses to at the VBS that I wrote material for and the teens helped me fill in the lessons with things the kids would enjoy. You know, sometimes, when you get older you wonder if all the things you poured yourself into as a younger adult were worth it....if anyone paid any attention. What an important verse to remember! If you read this comment, Jeremy, know that everybody's "Aunt Meg" is feeling pretty loved and valued today. <3
I just noticed this comment, Aunt Meg! Thank you so much for your support after all of these years. I took a detour in my faith before I eventually got serious about it in my teens, and when I (after years of saying I would never want to work with kids) became a children's pastor for a time, I would ALWAYS credit those VBS programs with laying a foundation for me. In fact, when I would try to drum up volunteers, to emphasize the importance of Vacation Bible School, I would share that "Roman's 5:1" memory verse song as an example of the power of those sowing seeds. You're gonna have a lot of jewels in that crown someday! :)
If I had a top ten of kids from "way back then", you would definitely be on it! I've been really happy to see where you are now in your faith compared to the little boy you were when you first walked into my life at ACBC. At this point, it seems your faith is pretty solid as you pass it on to your kids and others around you! <3
